If you need to use the elevator, please speak to one of the sidespersons or ring the bell just outside the entrance to the elevator and someone will come to assist you.

Don’t forget to bring your donation of a non-perishable food item for Esprit House.  We continue to make our donation the first Sunday of every month.

A Special Vestry Meeting has been called for September 7, 2008 following the service in order to elect another Synod Delegate.  Please plan to attend.

Bishop Ferris has announced his retirement and the Deanery of Muskoka will be honoring him at a Farewell Dinner on Sept. 14th. The tradition at such occasions is the presentation of a Farewell Gift, formerly know as a "purse". The members of Trinity as part of the Muskoka Deanery  are  invited to participate in the Farewell Gift. Please place your donations in an envelope, clearly marked "Bishop's Farewell" and either placed on the plate or handed to the Treasurer, cheques should be made payable to Trinity Church. Please note that donations to the Farewell Gift are not tax deductible. For more information regarding the Farewell, please see the notice board at the main entrance.

OFF THE GRID

From 6:00pm Sept. 12- noon Sept 14, the youths at Trinity will be hosting a camping trip for 13 year-olds to 19 year-olds at Killbear Park called - Off The Grid. Youths will camp for two nights, participate in a variety of activities where they will explore the underlying causes of environmental and social justice issues through games, drama, and discussion. Most importantly, they will go off the electricity grid for the duration of the event. There will also be teambuilding opportunities and time to relax. This is an ecumenical event that will hopefully bring together youths from the churches throughout this community and their friends.

If you are interested in participating or in more information, please contact Pam at Trinity Church (746-5221). We will also be needing adult chaperones (with  current criminal reference checks). Please register by August 26 as we NEED to know numbers to book the correct amount of campsites and to have the right number of supervisors!

Please take note that the annual Talent Auction will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2008.  Please pass the word – let’s see as many “non-Trinity” people as possible. Donation slips are now available. Some ideas: homemade wine, home baking, tutoring services, small engine repair, knitting, embroidery work, host a dinner, woodworking, preserves, leaf raking, lawn cutting, snow shoveling, homemade candy, etc…..

There will be a spaghetti lunch next Sunday following the vestry meeting.  Tickets are available from Pam after the service today. Cost is $5 per person. This is a fundraiser for the youth “Off the Grid” event.

The Fall ACW Muskoka Deanery Gathering will be held at Trinity St. Alban’s in Bala on Monday, September 29, 2008 beginning at 9:30am.  Lunch will be $10.  For more information, see the notice on the bulletin board or call Peggy Husband at 705-762-0209 or by email husband@muskoka.com . Please RSVP by September 15 if you plan to attend.
